Since 2001, Newton Center has provided the San Francisco Bay Area with academic after school care programs, camps and enrichment classes. Our mission is to offer quality, affordable academic programs to the families in our communities. Our programs provide students with a fun and educational environment to continue learning outside the classroom. Newton Center Inc. is a place for your child to pursue academic excellence in a positive environment. What does your After School Care for 1st-5th graders include? At Newton Center we put homework first. In Study Hall students complete homework, review school-based learning and prepare for new material with qualified instructors on-hand to answer questions. We offer support with special projects, exams, and extracurricular activities to promote your child’s academic success. As the gateway to new vocabulary, information and writing skills, reading is crucial to long-term academic success. Children who read frequently are more likely to perform better in school and on standardized tests. At Newton Center students engage in literacy activities for 20-30 minutes each day. After reading, comprehension skills are bolstered by summarizing and discussing the passage with fellow classmates. Instructors read aloud to students still learning to read and encourage discussions about what was heard. On minimum days and Fridays. Newton Center offers activities designed not only to help students enhance academic success but also to foster supportive relationships with their peers, parents, and community. Activities tackle challenges students face both in school and in everyday life in a fun interactive format, ranging from playing math jeopardy to designing a marketable toy. Newton activities are fun hands-on learning projects that engage children in learning by doing. Newton Center allocate ample time for your child to play outdoors as we strongly believe in the benefits of physical activity. especially after a long day at school. On minimum days, our staff organizes sports games for all to enjoy and makes every effort to encourage your child to be active during this time. We prepare healthful snacks such as fresh fruit, vegetables, yogurt, cheese and granola bars for our students each day. A variety of snacks are included to ensure that children with allergies or dietary restrictions are adequately provided for. Our teachers are highly qualified. All Newton Center instructors have undergone a thorough and extensive background check. Many hold advanced degrees in child development and/or years of experience in childhood education. Additionally. Newton Center provides staff trainings on positive reinforcement tools. CPR. and math skills. Our organization upholds the highest standards in training instructors to motivate and engage students, as well as to proactively communicate with parents and school faculty members concerning the progress of each student. Newton’s After School Care program provides care from school dismissal until 6:00pm each day that schools are in session. Newton provides After School Care on minimum days (including parent teacher conference weeks) from the time school is dismissed until 6:00 pm. Each Newton program offers different registration options. At some locations, a 5 day per week program is required at others a 3 day per week program is offered. Please contact our office to find more information about what registration options are available for your school. If the program or days you would like to register for are full, please email office@newtoncenter.org to add yourself to the waiting list. We will do our best to accommodate your After School Care needs. Newton’s After School Care program is based on a yearly tuition. Payments are broken into ten equal payments. You may pay by check or by credit card. For those paying by check, payments are scheduled on the 25th of each month from July to April. For those paying by credit card, payments are scheduled for either the 10th or 25th of each month from August to May. A $50 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration, and is applied towards the yearly tuition. Payments received five or more days past their due date are considered late and incur a $30 late payment fee. Returned checks incur a $50 service fee. Newton’s After School Care does not offer refunds. Newton’s tuition is not calculated on whether your child attends Newton or not. Therefore, the tuition is a flat rate and is due whether or not your child attended Newton for a day because of illness, doctor’s appointments, play dates, etc. Newton Center’s cancellation policy allows you to cancel at any time for the following month (i.e., you may cancel anytime in September for October 1st). A $150 cancellation fee is charged to cover tuition costs included in the yearly tuition, such as added care on minimum days. We will do our best to accommodate your Camp care needs. Our camp instructors are the same as those who teach in our After School Care Programs. Our teachers are highly qualified.
